Top PodShow Programs Featured in Newly Relaunched Zune Marketplace

Hit Shows from Leading Broadband Entertainment Network Now Available
‘On-The-Go’ through Microsoft’s restocked and reinvented online store

SAN FRANCISCO — November 13, 2007— PodShow, the leading broadband entertainment network, which allows its users to play, collect, share and create millions of hours of episodic programming, videos and music, today announced that its top shows in music, comedy, fashion, and tech gadgets will be included in Microsoft’s newest version of Zune Marketplace, which is being relaunched today along with new Zune media players.

“The new media revolution puts a premium on easy access to compelling content. Helping people easily find programming on all platforms — when and where they want — is important to create a dynamic user experience and speaks directly to the flexibility of our content delivery model,” said Ron Bloom, CEO and co-founder of PodShow. “We’re excited to have the best of PodShow’s content readily available for the new Zune players because this partnership marks a significant step forward in broadening the distribution of new media beyond the PC and television and into the pockets of consumers wherever they may be.”

Beginning today, Zune owners will gain access to more than 20 episodic video and audio shows across 10 diverse categories from PodShow. Some of PodShow’s leading technology-focused programming is featured, such as Geek Brief, Tech5, and TeXtra; popular comedy shows like Dr. Cockney and The Lost Tapes; and adult talk like The Dawn and Drew Show. By early 2008, PodShow programming will expand to more than 40 shows in over 20 categories.

The availability of PodShow’s programming in Zune Marketplace further extends the reach of its content to various mobile devices, and the broadband entertainment network will continue to join forces with leading technology platform providers like Microsoft to ensure that consumers have immediate access to their favorite PodShow programs.

“The Zune is unlike other portable media players in that it has the ability to share content through a wireless connection.” Part of PodShow’s mission is to ‘share’ entertaining, cutting-edge episodic content. That is something we found to be very complementary to the type of user experience that Microsoft is trying to propagate with the Zune platform,” said Rob Greenlee, Podcast Programming and Marketing Lead for Microsoft Zune. “Portable digital content is growing rapidly in popularity and, with the launch of the new Zune player, we want to offer compelling content from leading content providers like PodShow that share our progressive approach to entertainment access.”

With content available on the Internet and televisions, this latest portable option makes it that much easier to enjoy PodShow content on a device that comfortably fits in a pocket.

  1. Johnny Bristau Says:

Christmas 2007 has come and gone, with it we saw the release of the 2nd generation Zune MP3 player. Now you have a choice of either the first gen Zune 30GB player or either a 4GB, 8GB, or 80GB player.

The new Zune with all it’s feature is strong competition for the iPod. Not to mention the fact you can now watch or download movies for your Zune.

  2. Zune MP3 Players and Accesories Says:

It’s amazing at how Microsoft differentiates itself between the iPod. I was looking at some comparisons of the features between the two and they are enormous.

The Zune has so much more to offer than the iPod, it’s too bad that the iPod is much more popular.

    Great read.
