Podsafe Music Chart Topping Bands — American Heartbreak, Griddle & The Freak Accident – Together on One Stage
—PodShow Sponsored Concert, “Podsafe Music SF,” Features Three Leaders in PodPlay in One Venue, For One Night Only—
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. May 22, 2006 — PodShow, Inc., the premier brand in podcasting, today announced the first PodShow(tm) sponsored Podsafe Music Concert in San Francisco May 27, 2006, featuring International leaders in “PodPlay,” American Heartbreak, Griddle and The Freak Accident.
“Thousands of bands are submitting their songs to the Podsafe Music Network. They’re connecting with podcasters and listeners, and now they’re figuring out that it makes sense to promote shows together and share their audience with each other,” said Adam Curry, PodShow Co Founder and President. “This is another way bands are benefiting from the DIY / digital revolution in music. Plus, these bands rock – I should know, I play them on my show!”
Each of these bands is amongst the leaders in PodPlay, the podcasting industry’s digital equivalent of radio play. Recently featured musicians in the Podsafe Music Network enjoy promotion and feature placement across a network audience of millions in PodShow’s leading directories, communities and listener destinations – PodShow.com, Podcast Alley, indiePodder.org, Podsafe Music Network and Sirius Satellite Radio Channel 102.
The show starts at 8:00 p.m., with co-headliner The Freak Accident taking the stage at 8:30 PM, followed by Griddle and closing with American Heartbreak. As part of PodShow’s sponsorship, discounted admissions are $10 at the door, $8 advance purchase through www.ticketweb.com. No one under 21 will be permitted.
About American Heartbreak
For nearly a decade, American Heartbreak have been one of rock’s underground heroes, but with the May 2006 release of their eponymous second full-length album, they aim to leave the underground behind and follow in the footsteps of their arena rock idols. The San Francisco-based quintet was co-founded by Billy Rowe, onetime guitarist for Jetboy (a band All Music Guide calls “one of the best-kept secrets of ’80s glam metal”). If the New Wave of Classic Rock is in session, American Heartbreak is at the head of the class. For more information, go to www.churchofrockandroll.net
The first two albums released by San Francisco band Griddle, “Beak” (2001) and “Turning Violet” (2004), garnered the band a cult following for their distinctively melodic psychedelic rock. The quartet’s dual-vocal attack and sonic experimentation has earned rave reviews, and shows with billmates as varied as the Tubes, McLusky, Two Gallants, and 20 Minute Loop. Their third album, Klimty Favela, will be released July 11. For more information go to www.griddle.cc
About The Freak Accident
Ralph Spight has traversed the world playing a tight brew of kinetic punk with his band Victims Family and its offshoots Saturn’s Flea Collar and Hellworms. With Victims Family, he recorded numerous albums (six on the Alternative Tentacles label) and toured repeatedly through the US and Europe and garnered a rabid cult following worldwide. The Freak Accident is a band that Ralph created to express his angst through pop, not punk. The debut CD by The Freak Accident is out now on Alternative Tentacles (and Konkurrent in Europe).
