In just 18 months, Adam Curry has sparked a creative revolution online. In July, 2004, the former MTV music jockey and amateur techie posted software on the Net that allows anyone to create and distribute an audio show online. Podcasting was born, and now the Net is buzzing with more than 20,000 podcasts of everything from Delta blues to ayurveda yoga. Curry is on to Act Two as the podfather. In August his PodShow startup raised $8.9 million to build a network of indie podcasters and attract millions of listeners — and advertisers. Curry’s grand ambition? Grab at least part of the $30 billion spent annually on audio advertising.
